Who runs this site

Somethings Phishy is owned and operated by Market Action Research, Inc. ("MARS", "we", "us"). The game is provided as a free educational tool to help people recognize phishing and social-engineering attempts.

What we collect

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate — for example, page views, approximate location at the country or region level, device type, and how visitors arrive at the site. Google Analytics may set cookies and collect data such as your IP address and a pseudonymous identifier; that data is processed by Google under its own terms. We do not sell this data and we do not use it to identify you personally.

If you choose to file a score on the global leaderboard, the 3-letter code you enter and your run statistics (trust score, accuracy, and the name of your biggest catch) are sent to our server and stored in Cloudflare Workers KV. We do not collect or store any other personal information with your score.

We do not ask for accounts, email addresses, or payment information.

Your choices

You can clear your browser's site data at any time to remove the local game state. You can also block analytics cookies through your browser settings or by using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Third-party links

The site links to third-party organizations (such as Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing) for informational and donation purposes. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these organizations, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

Terms of use

Somethings Phishy is provided "as is" for educational and entertainment purposes only. The scenarios shown in the game are fictional. The game is not a substitute for professional security training, and we make no warranties — express or implied — about its fitness for any particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MARS is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site.

You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site, abuse the leaderboard, or use the site in violation of any applicable law.
